STAR 2.0 heads to Lisbon and Cascais: a week of ideas, creativity and shared experiences!
From 7 to 12 September 2026, STAR 2.0 will bring its European journey to Lisbon and Cascais, Portugal, for a week dedicated to street art, youth participation and community engagement.
Hosted by project partner Clube Intercultural Europeu, the programme will bring together STAR 2.0 partners and youth workers from across Europe to exchange experiences from the project’s local pilots, meet artists and communities, reflect on what has been learned so far and explore how street art can become a practical tool for youth work and social inclusion.
Rather than a traditional project meeting, the week has been designed as a hands-on learning experience, moving between working sessions, artworks, festivals and community events.
The programme
Activities will officially begin on Tuesday, 8 September, with a welcome session. After getting to know each other and sharing expectations for the week, participants will take part in a dedicated Training and Pilot Evaluation Session.
Through participatory activities, youth workers and project partners will look back at the STAR 2.0 pilots carried out across Europe, sharing local experiences, challenges and lessons learned. The session will also use the River of Life methodology to collectively visualise the journey of the project and the experiences that have shaped it.
On Wednesday, 9 September, the focus will turn to the relationship between artists, young people and youth workers, and to the role that each can play in a co-creation process.
Participants will discuss what co-creation really means in practice: How can young people be meaningfully involved in shaping an artistic process? What role can youth workers play in connecting young participants, artists and local communities? And how can different expectations, needs and perspectives be brought together?
Drawing on the experiences of the STAR 2.0 pilots across Europe, the session will provide a space to exchange perspectives, reflect on successful approaches and challenges, and identify lessons that youth workers can take back to their own communities and practices.
The afternoon will combine project activities with dedicated time for youth workers to experience Lisbon and its urban environment.
On Thursday, 10 September, participants will turn their attention to the future of STAR 2.0.
A morning session on Future Steps & Dissemination Planning will explore how the experiences and results developed through the project can travel beyond the individual pilot cities. The discussion will also address an important practical dimension of street-art-based youth work: working in public space and navigating relationships with municipalities, permissions and local stakeholders.
In the afternoon, participants will leave the meeting room behind for an Artworks Inauguration Tour, visiting the street art pieces created by young people during the Portuguese local workshops.
The day will conclude with a community celebration bringing together project partners, youth workers, local residents and stakeholders. With music, food, a BBQ and projections of videos created during the project pilots, the evening will offer an informal space to meet the people behind the local activities and celebrate what has been created together.
STAR 2.0 x INFINITO
The journey will culminate on Friday, 11 September, when STAR 2.0 heads to Cascais and Festival INFINITO.
From the afternoon onwards, STAR 2.0 will open its experience to a wider public through a dedicated intervention at the Festival, bringing together stories and experiences from the pilots implemented in the Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Ukraine.
For youth workers, the Festival will also represent the final step of the week’s journey: an opportunity to see how the methods, reflections and community practices discussed during the previous days can move into a real public setting and become a starting point for conversation, participation and connection.
The programme will end in the spirit that has accompanied STAR 2.0 throughout its journey: meeting people, sharing experiences and using creativity to create spaces where young people can participate and make their voices visible.
